History

Balnc Pilates represents the culmination of Rena Shields’ 30 years of dedication, evolution, and expertise in the field of movement and wellness. Drawing from her rich experience in classical studios, physiotherapy clinics, and nearly three decades as a studio owner, Rena has developed a unique and integrative approach to Pilates training.

Influenced by the pioneering teachings of Polestar Education, with mentors like Elizabeth Larkham and Brent Anderson, Rena has woven together methodologies from diverse Pilates schools such as Basi Pilates, Stott Pilates, and Physical Mind Pilates. Beyond Pilates, her work is deeply informed by mind-body modalities, including:

  • Feldenkrais Method: Enhancing awareness and movement efficiency.

  • Laban Movement Analysis: Exploring the dynamic and expressive qualities of movement.

  • Craniosacral Work: Promoting balance and subtle energetic alignment.

Balnc Pilates is more than a method—it’s a philosophy of mindful movement, designed to restore balance, build strength, and nurture the connection between body and mind. With Rena’s extensive training and innovative perspective, Balnc Pilates offers a transformative experience tailored to each client’s unique needs.
